It may seem unusual to consider thinking as a skill that should be explicitly taught because nearly everyone has a natural capacity to think. However, knowing information does not mean analytic and critical thinking is taking place. Acquiring facts does not ensure that the facts can be applied. Critical thinking is a skill that facilitates applying knowledge. The Nuts and Bolts for Critical Thinking workshop introduces seven critical thinking operations. It teaches analytical and critical thinking strategies, and it examines the behaviors that limit analytic and critical thinking. The training is interactive and provides a process to bridge the gap between information, experience and performance. |
